The Rembo Server is running on server level computer, which is either a Sun/Solaris Unix-box, a Linux PC (not necessarily a server) or a Windows NT/2000 Server.

The management tools allow to start and stop the Rembo services. They provide also an interface for network based management tools, such as (Windows running) Rembo Management Console.

When the target computer boots up from a Rembo server, Rembo's Network Boot module makes a Rembo OS available in the target system's memory. It also loads all the additional components, including The Rembo Wizard.

All communication between the target and the Rembo Server is encrypted. For authentication, server's authentication is used. If it is PAM, LDAP authentication can be used, allowing easy enterprise wide user management for Rembo client systems. The Rembo Wizard allows two different administrator users, root and rembo.

All files, including The Rembo Wizard are stored in Rembo Server's file system. It is a network access based, propriety type file system with MD5 checksums. Although installed using the hosting OS' file system, the Rembo's file system should be considered as a database from the system administration point of view. It is absolutely necessary to backup regularly the Rembo file system. During the backup, the Rembo Server should be stopped. It is possible to arrange a mirrored Rembo Server for high availability systems that would answer the clients when the master Rembo Server is down during the backup (or otherwise unavailable).
